What are toll free services?

February 14, 2007

A toll free number, also referred to as an “800 number,” is a service where the person receiving the call pays for the call (rather than the caller). This is a cost-effective alternative to calling cards, pay phones or calling collect. Currently, any phone number beginning with 800, 888, 877 or 866 is a toll free number.

However, there are features of toll free numbers that make having one very useful – beyond the benefit of cheaper calls, it can help you manage a virtual office, and instantly redirect calls if you are at numerous locations (without your callers ever knowing)! Think of having a home-based business where you can have a toll-free number that follows you wherever you go!
